The Y Ballarat – recognised for community impact

The Y Ballarat is thrilled to be announced as a Finalist in the 2021 Federation Business School Commerce Ballarat Business Excellence Awards in the Ballarat Foundation’s Community Impact category. This year’s Awards celebrate businesses that innovated, survived or thrived during 2020.

The Ballarat Foundation’s Community Impact Award recognises businesses which have shown a commitment to strengthening their local community beyond their core business purpose.

Across our organisation, we had so many examples of our community impact during the year – it was difficult to narrow it down to the Award parameters when approached!

Our nomination highlighted our Jump Start program pilot which launched during the pandemic in 2020 and ReCranked’s support for the community and development of educational “How-To” videos – which assisted people at home not only to access a bike for their lockdown fitness, but provided information on how to setup and maintain their bikes.

The outstanding commitment and work of our Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) and Kindergarten teams who went above and beyond, was also showcased. Our Children’s Services continued to operate as essential services throughout the pandemic and implemented a number of initiatives to provide education, connection and support to children and families and strengthen their communities.

The winners will be announced at an Awards event in August.

The Y acknowledges the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to them and their cultures; and to Elders past, present and future.
