the Y
We believe in the power of inspired young people and created the Diversity & Inclusion Project when local young people told us there was support required for local LGBTQIA+ people.
We are incredibly proud of the work we have achieved for local LGBTQIA+ young people. For the last 5 years we have worked with local LGBTIQA+ students on activities and initiatives that meet their needs.
In line with our focus towards re-engagement and learning, we will press pause on our current diversity & inclusion programming.
With Asha, Aj then Noah at the helm, the Diversity & Inclusion Project has supported many local schools and flexible learning providers in supporting LGBTQIA+, highlighted and celebrated a range of key dates and creation of the Pride in Schools annual youth conference. With programs such as QHub Ballarat, there is now more support available for our local youth!
‘Belonging’ is one of the Y’s values and we will continue to support young people’s belonging and creation of programs and space that support young people to belong.

An ally is someone who supports and advocates for equitable treatment of a community other than their own. If you want to stand up to the disproportionate challenges faced by trans and gender diverse young people, take action by educating yourself to become a better ally today.
The team at Minus18 have put together some great resources to help you become an ally
