Bags of Joy

2023 was the ninth year of Bags of Joy!

2023 saw Y Ballarat provide a record 210 Bags of Joy to local young people aged 12 to 21 who may otherwise have gone without at Christmas.

Through the generosity of the community, 2023’s Bags of Joy included a handmade and signed Christmas Card, a $30 Gift Card, a 7 Day Pass to the Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre and outdoor pools, as well as sweet treats donated by Ferndale Foods Australia.

Stay tuned for updates on Bags of Joy’s 2024 campaign… including a Christmas in July fundraising event!

About Bags of Joy

In 2015, amazing young woman and founder of the Bags of Joy campaign, Jessy 19, pitched her Christmas wish to provide shoeboxes filled with gifts for disadvantaged children at Christmas to Y Ballarat. The Y Ballarat team loved Jessy’s idea and the rest is history.

The Y acknowledges the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to them and their cultures; and to Elders past, present and future.
