How Queer Looks
Film Project

How Queer Looks is a youth-led and developed film/storytelling documentary sharing the story and connects rural LGBTQIA+ people via going to them. How Queer Looks aimed to bridge the generational divide by facilitating an environment between older queer people and youth and exploring different ways queer can look.

Amazing young people and film creators Ash and Ruth led the charge on this incredible project. Ruth said, “This project was entirely called upon by us, Ash and I are seventeen-year-olds who identified a gap in our own and others lives. Rather than an organisation engaging with us, we are engaging with them to facilitate our ideas and teach us”.

How Queer Looks was funded by Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic), in partnership with the Victorian Government, via Healthy Equal Youth (HEY) Grants, round 13.

We would like to acknowledge the passing of Lindsay, one of the interviewees in this documentary. We are very grateful to have known and spoken to him, and have him as a part of our community. We hope this documentary succeeds in its intention to preserve some of his story for us all to look back on.
