National Payroll Day – 19 July 2024

At the Y Ballarat, there’s a whole committed support crew who make sure that our service teams can do what they do best – delivering inspired programs to empower and educate children and young people.

Our valuable Payroll Team of three, is one that works tirelessly behind the scenes, ensuring the over 750 staff across the organisation get paid on time, every pay period.

We asked our incredible Payroll Coordinator, Lisa, about what she likes about her role.

“No two days are the same in our area,” she said. “Working in Payroll allows you to work across the organisation and really feel a part of so many aspects. We also really enjoy finding solutions and resolving issues for our teams and people.

I love working at the Y and the culture here. The commitment of everyone, where ever they work, to empower young people and support our vision is really special.”

Lisa celebrates her third anniversary of being with Y Ballarat on National Payroll Day, and leads our wonderful Payroll Team.

Working efficiently and quietly in our Barkly Square office, our Payroll Team is the first to hear about it if there’s a query regarding wages or payment.

“Payroll teams are the unsung heroes of any organisation,” said Y Ballarat/Y Kinders’ Business Services Manager, Renee Collins. “There’s a lot to what they do – they handle salaries, benefits, and deductions with precision, ensuring everyone gets paid accurately and on time.”

The hard work of the Payroll Team also helps ensure that our workplace is kept thriving and employees motivated. It’s also an area of ongoing change, with our team keeping up to speed with all the relevant Awards, legislatory and reporting requirements.

“Beyond crunching numbers, payroll teams help keep employees happy and secure, as getting paid correctly is a big part of job satisfaction,” Renee added.
