the Y
ReCranked is a Y Ballarat initiative specialising in giving unwanted bikes new riders. We take old, unwanted, unused, broken or forgotten about bikes and revamp them into safe and serious modes of transport for those without wheels.
Donated bikes are given a complete overhaul in the ReCranked workshop by our staff, volunteers and young people. ReCranked bikes are given to new owners who also receive bike care and maintenance education and a brand new helmet, to ensure a lasting and happy friendship.
Having a way to get around is so important for anyone, especially young people. Delivering practically new bikes to people is a creative and realistic way to improve transport options for Ballarat residents.
ReCranked bikes have been used in local school bike education programs and sent to countries including Cambodia, Liberia and Namibia.

Since its creation, ReCranked has recycled over 3,000 bikes!
The Workshop is now located at the Wendouree West Recreation Reserve (1 Holly Grove, Wendouree).
