The Y Ballarat and Jump Start are incredibly proud of our Jump Start Coordinator, Louise Rippon, who took out the Influential Adult – Worker Award at the 2024 City of Ballarat Youth Awards, in August.
The Y Ballarat was excited when Louise joined our Youth Team. Louise had been teaching for several years, and brought her outstanding skills, bright personality and experience to make the program the success it is today.
Louise’s commitment to Jump Start and support of young people to finish the program is testament to her amazing ability. She has also grown the program over the last two years and helped over 200 participants complete it.
Jump Start is a local and unique re-engagement automotive program utilising cars to build confidence and routine for young people dis-engaged from, or not attending education regularly.
At the time of the announcement, Louise was overseas and was completely caught off-guard when contacted about her win.
“I was so surprised to win the Influential Adult – Worker Award, what an honour!” she said on accepting the Award. “I am so privileged to work in such an amazing program, which provides opportunities to make such a difference for young people. I am incredibly passionate about Jump Start and super proud of what our team does for the community.
I love building and maintaining relationships with the young people I work with and it brings me so much joy watching their progress and sharing their wins.”
Louise’s dedication and passion have truly made a difference in the lives of so many young people, and this award is well-deserved recognition of her impact.
