Congratulations Chris!

January 25, 2024 Our People

Chris Hammond, a key member of our Finance team, celebrates 25 years with Y Ballarat this month.

Starting her Y journey as a swimming teacher, Chris moved into the position of coordinating swimming programs for hundreds of schools across the region. Thousands of children have benefitted from her expertise and dedication over the years, as they have learnt to swim and be safe around water.

Building on her skills gained in banking, Chris then joined our finance team, taking on a number of different roles, leading to her position as our much-valued Finance Coordinator.

Chris has been on Y Ballarat’s journey, as we have grown and evolved, and is an integral part in supporting the delivery of our early years, youth, community and OSHC programs.

You’ll find Chris based in our Corporate Office in Barkly Square, with her passion for swimming continuing, as she accompanies her grandchildren to their lessons and champions water safety.

Now in her 25th year with the Y Ballarat, Chris says, “The Y has become like a family to me and I have enjoyed every moment of my time here. I’ve met some amazing people and made many lifelong friends.”

“I’ve always loved seeing the impact we can make in the lives of young people and being part of that.”

Thank you Chris for your commitment, hard work and all round excellence as we work to towards a better world, with and for young people. Congratulations!

The Y acknowledges the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to them and their cultures; and to Elders past, present and future.
