the Y
The spirit of generosity has shone brightly in our community, ensuring that 210 local young people will have a little sparkle and something special during the festive season.
News has spread of the incredible difference that our Bags of Joy initiative can make to a young person. We were delighted when Makayler from Y Australia visited our head office to personally deliver a selection of gift cards donated by her team. Acts of kindness from across our organisation and beyond reinforce the increased impact we can make working together.
With Christmas not far away, our Youth Advisory and Action Group was on hand last week to carefully pack the bags. They included beautifully handcrafted cards made by a member of our Y Kinders team, along with gift cards, swim passes and a few donated treats.
The bags are currently being collected by referring schools, agencies and organisations to distribute before Christmas. The feedback has already been heartwarming. A Youth Worker at a local school shared, “On behalf of our Wellbeing team, I’d like to thank you all for what you do. Being able to provide these to our vulnerable students and brighten their festive season up in a small way is such a big deal.”
We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who donated and contributed – making filling so many bags possible. Your assistance has helped create positive memories at this time of year for vulnerable young people.
Special thanks go out to the following organisations, businesses and community groups:
